to the personal online gallery of artist Rys Zarebski. Most of these works are the result of forays into the countryside and along the coast, particularly of the West Country and Wales. Locations with their unique sense of place, their stories, and the emotional responses they elicit, have always interested him. Exciting textures, rhythm of form, both man-made and natural, inspire him to paint.

I can remember being about 4 years old, sitting on a dusty kerb, pencil in hand, with my dog-eared paper pressed as flat as my knee would allow, drawing the front view of a parked car. I was captivated by the gleaming chrome, glass and paint-work, the sheer detail in those thousands of fragmented reflections – such a contrast with the texture of everything else in the street. This is my earliest recollection of being totally absorbed in creating something”
